Pokémon X & Y were the first Generation VI Pokémon games. It also added the first new type in 14 years, the Fairy-type, introduced to balance the Dragon-type Pokémon. While having only 72 new Pokémon introduced, the games introduced a new feature called Mega Evolution, where 46 Pokémon could Mega Evolve in battle to their Mega Evolution, a more powerful version of the Pokémon. Using the new 3D engine, Pokémon X & Y revitalised the Pokémon games. These games were the first on the Nintendo 3DS and brought the series to something that people had wanted for years, a 3D Pokémon game.
